The Hawaii Natural Energy Institute employs a diverse range of faculty, staff, and graduate and undergraduate students.  The institute also supports many post-graduate research affiliates.  The major focus areas of HNEI’s research and development activities are alternative fuels, electrical grid integration, fuel cells and battery technology, renewable power generation, and energy efficiency and transportation.  Within each of these areas, our faculty and staff conducts research, analysis, evaluation, and testing in various fields, such as biomass processing, hydrogen production and storage, ocean and wave energy, photovoltaic technology, and energy management.

The availability of positions within our institute usually vary and are dependent our faculty’s needs within their specific project areas at a given time.  International applicants are always welcome to apply, however, they will need to provide the appropriate documentation to work in the United States if they are selected.
