Hawai'i Natural Energy Institute, SOEST, federal funds, temporary. To begin approximately October 2015. 

Training to be Performed: Participate in project focused on the research and development of thin-film materials and interfaces for photoelectrochemical applications, with emphasis on the chalcopyrite material class. Responsibilities include development of thin film semiconductor materials using vacuum-based deposition methods and comprehensive characterization of material physical, electrical and photoelectrochemical properties. The selected candidate will also perform advanced surface characterization experiments with mainland partners to establish materials and interfaces chemical and energetic properties.

Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D. in Chemistry, Materials Science or related disciplines. Prior experience in chalcopyrite thin film synthesis and/or advanced characterization required. Candidates should be familiar with surface spectroscopy analysis, including X-ray and UV Photoelectron Spectroscopy, Inverse Photoemission Spectroscopy as well as X-ray Emission and Absorption Spectroscopy. Excellent experimental, instrumentation and computer skills, as well as good communications and writing (English), and collaboration skills. Ability to work independently, efficiently and respectfully in a team-oriented research-laboratory environment; and to generate reports, publications and proposals with minimum supervision.

Stipend: $60,000 per year.
