Duties: To conduct fundamental and applied research that reduces to practice concepts on a patented extraction solvent system for the recovery of bio-oils, fermentable sugars, and protein from biomass. Training will include solvent extraction, protein purification and analysis, bio-oil purification, separation, and analysis. The successful candidate will also seek to advance fundamental understanding of solubility and phase separation, as well as purification and protein stabilization in high salt solutions.
Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D. in chemical/biochemical engineering, chemistry or biotechnology, or related discipline. Demonstrated capacity to work and communicate with internal and external colleagues in a collaborative manner towards the collective accomplishment of overall project goals; to formally and informally report their plans and progress on a regular basis; and, to become a leader in the lab environment. Demonstrated ability to learn new techniques, to review the literature, and to plan and execute experiments leading to knew knowledge.
Pay Range: $55,000 – 60,000 annual stipend.
