#70268T. Non-Tenure track, limited-term appointment; federal funds, not to exceed 12/31/13. Position to begin approximately March 15, 2013; renewable subject to funding and operational needs. Duties: Collaborate with Institute Director and senior faculty to formulate and execute research in the area of fuel cells, gas cleanup and purification, and materials for gas separations. Specific duties to include but not limited to: initiates and develops a sustainable and nationally recognized research program based on novel material development for fuel cell air purification including identification of funding sources and preparation of proposals. Formulate and execute research and analysis in the area of air purification as related to operations of fuel cells in harsh environments. Develop operational models of air contamination impact on fuel cell performance from bench scale experimentation to fuel cell field trials. Prepare and execute project summaries, reports and presentations for funding agencies and for presentation at national and international professional meetings. Publishes research in peer-reviewed journals and in other forms as appropriate. Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D. from an accredited four year college or university with a major in Chemical Engineering or related field. Candidate must demonstrate a record of accomplishment in the area of gas separation and fuel cell analysis. Demonstrated excellent written and oral communication skills including record of publication in peer-reviewed journals. Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment and establish and maintain professional relationships collaborators and funding organizations. Desirable Qualifications: Experience in the development and testing of novel materials for gas separation. Experience in gas flow modeling through pore structures. Experience with surface characterization techniques including but not limited to; x ray diffraction, infrared spectroscopy, N2 adsorption and gas chromatography. Experience with electrochemical characterization methods as related to fuel cells. Salary: R3, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
