Bio-Fuel Cells (overview)

HNEI researchers have been involved in a variety of research activities aimed at development of bio-fuel cells.   Bio-fuel cells are fuel cells that use enzymatic or microbial biocatalysts to convert chemical energy directly to electricity as power sources.

The primary contacts for bio-fuel cell research are Michael J. Cooney and Bor Yann Liaw.  For more specific details on HNEI activities in this subject area, see the Bio-Fuel Cells project section of our website.  Further information concerning biotechnology work and researchers can be found in the Biotechnology section of our website

For general overviews about other related HNEI research efforts, see the Bio-Renewable Resources and Fuel Cells reseach areas of our website.
