Godwin Severa

Assistant Researcher
Godwin Severa received his BSc. (honors) Chemistry from University of Zimbabwe in 2002. His undergraduate research was on synthesis and characterization of layered double hydroxides (hydrotalcites) materials. He worked in industry for a year as an analytical chemist before starting graduate school at University of Hawaii at Manoa. He received his Ph.D. in Chemistry at University of Hawaii at Manoa in 2010. His dissertation was focused on synthesis and characterization of novel alkali and transition metal solid state gaseous hydrogen storage materials for alternative energy applications. He did postdoctoral research (2010-2013) at Hawaii Natural Energy Institute on utilization of ionic liquids in multi component separation of biomass for renewable energy use. He obtained an MBA from Shidler College of business at University of Hawaii at Manoa in 2014. His current research interest is focused on development of novel supported ionic liquids and metal based sorbents for gaseous contaminants mitigation.
