Marufa Mithila (MSc, BSc in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, JU) joined the Hawaii Natural Energy Institute in December 2013. Over the past 8 years, her work was focused on developing and implementing solutions of renewable energy, energy efficiency, low carbon business models and involvement in the Asia-Pacific. She previously held positions with SK Johnson LLC, LPEP Renewable Energy Bangladesh, Bangladesh Centre for Advanced Studies (BCAS) and World Health Organization (WHO) in EHA (Emergency Humanitarian Action) Program in the Post-Sidr (cyclone) Response. Most of the projects were in the area of rural electrification, minigrids, CDM project cycles, biogas digesters, funded by the World Bank, ADB, USAID, UNICEF, IDB, JICA, UNDP, SNV, KFW, DFID and GPOBA. At HNEI she’s coordinating the outreach information, and technical research activities in the area of biofuels, energy efficiency, and grid integration studies.
