Hawai'i Natural Energy Institute, SOEST, temporary, extramural  funds.  To begin approximately February 2020.

Training to be Performed: Participate in project to evaluate constant volume carbonization process to convert biomass and waste to higher-value, stabilized, carbonized products under the Asia Pacific Regional Energy Systems Assessment Program (APRESA).

Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D. in mechanical, chemical, or bioresources engineering or equivalent.  Prior experience in ASEAN countries conducting research relevant to thermochemical biomass conversion to fuels, power, or higher-value products.  Demonstrated ability to conduct experimental research, operate and maintain analytical equipment.  Excellent written and oral communication skills.  Demonstrated ability to safely conduct research with minimum supervision.

Desirable Qualifications: Prior experience with pyrolysis processes, data acquisition systems, gas chromatography, batch reactor systems, process modeling.

Stipend: $5,000 per month or commensurate with qualifications.
