Elmar is currently a part of Dr. Scott Turn’s team in an integrated research project to evaluate potential feedstock supply chains for sustainable aviation fuel production in Hawai’i. His primary role is conducting techno-economic and life cycle assessments toward sustainable sourcing of feedstocks across the state to support sustainable SAF production.
Elmar holds a doctorate in Biological and Agricultural Engineering from Washington State University with a major in Bioenergy and Bioproducts Engineering. His PhD work is mainly focused on the conversion of lignocellulosic biomass to produce biochar and activated carbon. He is also a researcher and a faculty at Central Luzon State University under the Department of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering and facilitates works involving feedstock assessment and the potential of bio-based industries including sustainable aviation fuels among others.
