Post-Doctoral Fellow

Dr. George Baure Jr. received his Ph.D. from Materials Science and Engineering Department at the University of Florida in 2016. He joined the Hawaii Natural Energy Institute in 2017. He has 10+ years of experience improving environmentally responsible power sources and energy storage devices including lithium batteries and solid oxide fuel cells. He is currently performing research on lithium-ion cells used in electric vehicles and deployed grid-tied battery energy storage systems to quantify the degradation mechanisms at play during different aging conditions, with the goals being to gain a more realistic portrayal of how batteries degrade, to use them more efficiently, and to prevent dramatic failure.
