Darshi Banan joined the Hawaiʻi Natural Energy Institute in 2024 as a Postdoctoral Researcher.

Currently, Darshi works in Dr Scott Q Turn’s group to evaluate the sustainability and climate adaptation potential of agricultural practices in Hawaii.

Darshi has a background in plant ecophysiology, quantitative genetics, and high-throughput phenotyping, holding a PhD in Plant Biology from the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign and a BSc in Plant Biology from the University of Washington.

Previously, Darshi has contributed to agricultural research including tree-microbe interactions, landscaping irrigation efficiency, C4 grass canopy architectural variation, and common bean drought tolerance through collaborations with the DOE, USDA, Danforth Plant Science Center, and CIAT.
