Kyle graduated from the University of Hawaiʻi at Manoa with M.S. in Mechanical Engineering in 2023, where he served as a graduate research assistant under Scott Turn at the Hawaiʻi Natural Energy Institute analyzing the thermochemical and mechanical properties of carbon materials. During this time, he conducted various series of tests on biofeedstocks by developing a factorial design method to optimize the strength of biochar material. He joined HNEI in 2024 as a test engineer where he continues to perform laboratory research and analyses of biocarbon production.
