Md Musabbir Hossain (Ph.D.) joined the Hawai‘i Natural Energy Institute (HNEI) in January 2024 as a postdoctoral researcher. Prior to joining HNEI, he was a postdoctoral fellow at Georgia Institute of Technology from April 2023 to January 2024. Before that he served as a postdoctoral scholar with University of Central Florida from May 2022 to April 2023.

He received his Ph.D. degree in Control Theory and Control Engineering from the Shanghai University, Shanghai, China, in 2021. He received the M.Sc. and B.Sc. degrees in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Islamic University, Kushtia, Bangladesh, in 2012 and 2013, respectively.

He obtained Chinese Government Scholarship for his Ph.D. study. He was honored ‘Student of the year’ (Academic Star in Research) at Shanghai University in 2019 and received the best paper award for IEEE Transactions on Smart Grid paper from Shanghai Association of Automation (SAA) in 2021. His current research interests include power systems control, stability and optimization, power system analysis, electric vehicles, renewable energy, machine learning, cyber-physical security, control theory and application.

He serves as an invited speaker, research article reviewer, and research proposal reviewer for prestigious journals and institutes. He holds IEEE Membership and IEEE Membership for Young Professionals, IEEE Control Systems Society, and IEEE Power & Energy Society. He has completed several practical research projects for smart grids, active distribution systems, and nuclear power plants.
